SUSA goes live
SUSA was officially launched at a special event in Parliament on 3rd February 2010. Andy Reed MP, Vice-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Christian group 'Christians in Parliament' pressed the button for the site to go live, and then introduce a panel for a debate entitled: 'Does Christianity have a future in politics?' Andy said: "I hope that Christians will take advantage of this fantastic new resource, and that they will truly increase the levels of salt and light within politics in the UK."
In a packed MacMillan Room in Porcullis House, the debate was chaired by Rod Liddle, and the panel consisted of Bishop Graham Cray - Fresh Expressions, Andrew Copson - British Humanist Association, Ruth Gledhill - Religion Correspondent for The Times, and Steve webb MP.
Dr David Landrum, Senior Parliamentary Officer for Bible Society, said: "This event was a great way to launch SUSA into the bloodstream of the body of Christ in the UK. Now the real work can begin. We need to get the message out that engagement in politics and government is biblical, missional, and possible".
